The most common question I'm asked by parents is: "How can I get my child to read more?" I have been a school librarian since 1997, and I can tell you that the children who are the strongest readers all seem to have one thing in common - they come from families where they read with their parents and they see their parents reading. Time is a valuable commodity, and sometimes it seems impossible to find a few extra minutes in each day for reading. If you are truly interested in helping your child to become a stronger reader, try to spend about 20 minutes each day reading together. It really does make a difference.
